New Year’s Eve Sermon Notes

Proximity brings on similarity

  • 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)  "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

The Divine Proximity: God's desire to be intimate with us.

  • Genesis 3:8 (NIV) - "Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day."

  • Exodus 25:8 (NIV) - "Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.”

God desires transformation for us.

  • Romans 12:2 (NIV) - "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Iron sharpening iron.

  • Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) - "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Cultivating a close relationship with God through the things that are in proximity around us!

  • Prayer and meditation on His Word

  • Worship Together

  • Living life together

  • Acts of love and kindness

  • Bearing one another's burdens

Proximity brings on similarity, both in our relationship with the Almighty and in our connections with one another. Let us seek closeness with God through prayer and obedience, and let us strive for unity and love in our relationships. May our lives bear witness to the transformative power of divine proximity, to the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
