Advent: Love (Week 3)

INCARNATION

  • Christ was the embodiment, at the display

  • (Isaiah 9:6, NIV). For to us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

  • (John 1:14) "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."

  • "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son”... John 3:16

  • God's love is not merely spoken or abstract; it is demonstrated, to us in the person (baby) of Jesus Christ.

CHRIST BROUGHT LOVE TO THE WORLD IN A DIFFERENT WAY

  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV),"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

  • The Advent candle of love invites us to reflect on the love that compelled God to send His Son into the world, offering hope, redemption, and salvation.

LOVE IN ALL THINGS IS CHRIST -  LIFE IS LOVE

  • “All you need is love”

  • “Love Does”

  • “Love Heals”

  • “Love me tender”

  • The moment that we use the word love, we are invoking Christ into the center of that entity.

  • Love comes from God, God is love! A new commandment that I give to you is that you love one another.

  • The life Christ lead and that he modeled for us to live is nothing more than the expression of God's love to us, for us, and through us.

  • The Advent candle of love invites us to reflect upon the transformative power of love in all things within our lives.
