C.S. LEWIS

Huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith (Hebrews 12:1)

  • “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” — Saint Paul of Tarsus

  • “Join together in your following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.” — Saint Paul of Tarsus

  • Saint Paul of Tarsus was inviting fellow followers to watch his life, not to imitate him for his own sake but rather because he strove to live a life that reflected Jesus.

  • Reluctant surrender

  • “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” — C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

First Takeaway

  • “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because I see everything else.” — C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

  • As followers of Jesus, we’re not called to retreat from the world. We’re called to engage with it in a way that reflects Christ’s light and love. Our faith should be the lens through which we see every person, every challenge, and every opportunity. When we do this, we become beacons of hope, encouragement, and truth in a world that desperately needs is.

Second Takeaway

  • “Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, in spite of your changing moods.” — C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

  • When our emotions or circumstances shift, we can still cling to the truth of God’s promises, for He is unchanging — this is the faith we live in.
