FAQs

What is membership?

Membership at the Grove is all about being a member of the full Body of Christ who happen to live and meet in the Pleasant Grove area of Mount Juliet. We are not concerned with numbers or voting rights, but rather being a part of and witnessing growing relationships with Christ together.

Why is membership important?

In learning how to be members of the Body of Christ, we discover that being in community together is vital to our growth. In our membership class, we discuss how and why we interact and trust in each other as we pursue Christ together. Membership is also the path towards being placed in a community group at the Grove.

How to I become a member?

We try to make membership here at the Grove as simple as possible. We have a monthly membership class with our Community Director, Chris. This class is more of a guided discussion of our beliefs and goals, ending with the option to join us or to keep asking more questions.

We also host the occasional event, Lunch at the Grove. This lunch is a free meal with some of our staff, on and off-stage, that provides a chance to meet and greet with each other and answer any questions you may have about us, all while being able to break bread and enjoy some fun together.

I still have questions. How do I learn more?

We love your questions and would love the chance to answer them! If you come and visit with us, you can find anyone and ask away. A lot of our staff and Serve Team wear lanyards and are eager to help in any way.

Also, please feel free to email Chris, our Community Director with any questions by clicking here!

How do I get plugged in?

We believe that God calls us to live life together and serve each other (Acts 2:42-47). With that in mind, we also know that it is all too easy to feel used, burnt out, or overlooked. To help with this, we don’t think that it is wise to start serving in a community before you are being served by that community. This is why we like to plug you into a community group and make sure that you are known and cared for before we set you up with our Serve Team.

I just became a member. Why am I getting a survey and membership renewal?

We believe that our church is not about our building or how many people come through our doors. Instead, it’s all about the actual people who come in. We want our membership to represent the real human beings that we live life with every day and every week. So, we reset our membership to zero every year. This gives us a chance to recommit to each other and to Christ as we are invited to do every single day.

This also gives us the opportunity to grow together as a church body. We believe we are all broken as we live and learn together, so we send out an annual survey to assess and strengthen areas where we are weak, as well as where we are succeeding and can continue growing.
