John Driver opens a new summer series, Justice in the Proverbs, with one of Scripture's most direct commands: "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves" (Proverbs 31:8–9). It's easy to admire and hard to live — especially when we're convinced someone else's suffering isn't our responsibility. But the Bible insists that every person, made in God's image, comes into our presence with a real claim on us, just as Jesus gave us a claim on Him. This week we begin to ask what it looks like to actually do something about injustice — and to let Scripture, not the slogans of our moment, define what justice means.
